How do I acknowledge my anxiety?

Anxiety occurs for many reasons. It can pop up right before bed keeping you up late or it can impact your ability to do your job or connect with a friend. Managing anxiety will look very different for each person. Your anxiety is a signal from your body and your mind that is telling you there is something to worry about. Some anxiety can be resolved by simply letting yourself listen to it and validate whatever worries accompanying you. Other times anxiety might be due to how you were raised and how you’ve built your relationships to ultimately not serve you.

Helpful tips:

  1. Pause and acknowledge your anxiety.

  2. Notice how it shows up as a physical experience in your body.

  3. Notice how it impacts your behavior

  4. Remember you don’t have to fully merge with your anxiety letting it completely dictate your life. Your anxiety has a message for you that ultimately you get to make the final say around.

  5. Take action to support whatever your anxiety is needing you to do. This can be something as simple as taking a deep breathe and admitting to yourself that something in your life is scary.

  6. Celebrate small victories where you both listened to your anxiety fully and made healthy decisions for your life.

You’re not alone in feeling anxious. It’s a normal experience that many people around you likely feel.
